Timing Belts
Is your vehicle due for timing belt kit (cambelt) replacement?
Unexpected failure of the camshaft drive belt on your vehicle could result in severe engine damage and very high repair costs.
The cambelt, also known as a toothed belt, ensures that all moving engine components, such as pistons and valves, are synchronised and thus avoid any unwanted contact with each other. The fact that the belt is made from a rubber-based compound provides benefits such as reduced noise and increased efficiency, but it also means that, just like tyres, the belt can deteriorate over time. Wear and tear occurs with age and mileage but also with repeated short stop and start journeys. Many of our customers find themselves covering less mileage these days and the majority of timing belt kit replacements are due to the age of the vehicle, rather than due to the mileage.
Recommended replacement intervals for timing belts often depend on the make and model of the vehicle. Some models require belt replacements every 4 years and others suggest every 10 years. We can check this for you from your vehicle registration number.
Cambelt changes should only ever be undertaken by people who have the specific equipment, calibration tools and experience for your make and model of car.
Replacement of a timing belt kit on some models of vehicle can be labour intensive, therefore we will always do our very best to offer you a competitive price. Please get in contact if you would like an estimate.
For peace of mind for many motoring miles to come; replace your vehicles timing belt kit.
